I'm James aka Skath - I've been playing computer games for as long as I can remember, I started on my Dad's ZX Spectrum at about 4 or 5 years old, those were real loading times. From the ZX Spectrum I moved onto an Atari ST 5200 which was also my Dad's. Once I was old enough to understand how games were made I attempted some early coding on the atari but barely managed to get an octupus to run across the screen.
My first console was a Sega MegaDrive with sonic 2, I got it for christmas when I was 10 (1994). This is when I realised I wanted to design games as I was fascinated with how the designers got things to look so good using pixels and a very limited palette.
A few years later I got Shining Force 2 for my MegaDrive this was the first real RPG I'd ever played and I instantly fell in love with the Genre. I'd always been a fan of fantasy type fiction books and movies, and this gaming genre seemed to tie in quite nicely with that interest and an over-active imagination.
Another defining gaming moment for me was the Release of Final Fantasy 7. not only the most anticipated RPG of the time but also the prettiest. I still look back fondly at the dated graphics and play it on my PSP from time to time. I was 13 then and in Highschool and I still really wanted to be a games designer. The visuals for that game blew me away, In the same way that the Final Fantasy 13 Visuals blow me away today. I'd love to work on an RPG as epic and original as the Final Fantasy series.
